Discover the different style options and their effects
Firefly offers an extensive collection of style options to customize the look and feel of your final image, which can be quite overwhelming. Unless you have a specific aesthetic in mind, it’s often best to start with a composition reference image and a prompt to see what gets generated before experimenting with different styles.
Visual Intensity
- When “Content Type” is set to Photo:
- Left = more realistic
- Right = more surrealistic
- When “Content Type” is set to Art:
- Left = more digital art
- Right = more illustrative
Tip: If the resulting image contains incorrect features, like a third eye or a missing arm, adjusting the Visual Intensity may help correct those issues.

Reference Image
Using a reference image can help specify the visual style you want to create. You can either upload your own image or choose from the provided gallery. Adobe Help offers some great examples of how to effectively use style images.
Tip: I’ve noticed that when using a style reference image, the results often appear fuzzy with Fast Mode disabled, but are significantly improved when Fast Mode is enabled. Further investigation is needed.
Strength
If you have a reference image selected, you can adjust how closely the generated image adheres to that style, with the strongest setting on the right.

Effects
There are numerous options available, and changing the style while keeping the text prompt the same can yield wildly different outputs. Some of my most commonly used effects can be found in the “Tags” section on the sidebar, including “hyper realistic,” “watercolor,” “anime,” “science fiction,” and “fantasy.”
Color and Tone
Select a color and tone option to apply a specific color palette to your image.
Lighting
You can adjust the lighting to set the mood—whether it’s daytime or nighttime—or to create a creepier atmosphere.
Camera Angle
This setting is not needed when using a composition reference image.

Experiment with Style Effects
Let’s look at an example of how different style effects can change an image while keeping the prompt the same.
