Be Specific

• Keep your language simple and direct.
• Avoid unnecessary verbs like “create” or “generate.”

Be Descriptive

• Incorporate adjectives that specify size, shape, color, and materials.
• Infuse emotion, style, and lighting into your descriptions.
• Detail the background to enhance context.

Be Empathetic

• Use words that convey feelings or emotions, such as “happy,” “playful,” or “lonely.”

Use a Reference Image

Uploading a reference image can significantly streamline the process. It reduces the need for lengthy descriptions, as I find the AI does a better job at image recognition and matching words to images compared to generating images from text alone.

Describing this scene from scratch would typically require a lengthy paragraph, and Firefly often struggles with quantitative instructions like “15 fish” or “two eyes.” Instead, my prompt was simply: “Underwater scene with a whale, fish, turtles, and an octopus.”, and Firefly was able to accurately identify the octopus in the line art and distinguish between the whale and the fish.

Experiment with additional descriptors

The reference image helps establish the basic elements in the final image, and now you can play around with different descriptions to totally change the look of the image.
